Press release

This Saturday (Sept 7th) 'Preab Meadar Rhythm and Rhyme', begins a 7 date tour of Ireland in the Presentation Centre, Enniscorthy. A full linked list of dates is provided above.

Rhythm and Rhyme combines the most inspired concept in Irish traditional music of the past century, Preab Meadar; with sean-nós dance, to create a fabulous feast of original dance steps and: “An extraordinary meeting of wordcraft and music rhythms” (Ellen Cranitch, LyricFM)

In this production, Lorcán Mac Mathúna and Daire Bracken’s ground-breaking “dance songs” duo, “Preab Meadar,” have been joined by sean nós dancers, Liam Scanlonn and Caoimhe Ní Mhaolagáin, for an exhilirating performance of rhythm and rhyme, music and dance.

After its premiere in Sligo last year, this visually fascinating dance show had everybody buzzing about the incredibly catchy music, described as: “Boundary Transcending” by LyricFM's Bernard Clarke; and the fantastic percussive dance moves of Liam and Caoimhe.

With complex time signatures, unprecedented in Irish music; of 15/8, 24/8, 7/8, and 5/8, in the mix; you will see and hear a revolution in Irish dance take place.  A “stunning and incredible” collection of dance-songs matched with specially choreographed dance steps, this performance presents an exciting and visually gorgeous combination of instrumental, vocal, and dance traditions.

Intrigued? Well wait till you see and hear it!

What is Preab Meadar

Preab meadar is something brand new in contemporary Irish trad music. 1000 years in the making, it is a sensational new dance music style, of complex rhythms and stunning lyrics. Comprising unprecedented rhythms and singing style; it owes its inception to early and medieval Celtic Literature. In particular it is grounded in Gaelic strict-metre syllabic poetry of the medieval period 600AD - 1600AD. The compositions of Daire Bracken and Lorcán Mac Mathúna are quite simply without prenteced. read more in ABOUT
